Callum got very excited about the monkey backpack we saw one day at Barnes & Noble, so we decided that it was time for him to have his own luggage. He was VERY proud of his new bags, and loved carrying them around the airport on our summer trip. We went out west for a business meeting at Park City, so Daddy took Mommy and Callum along. Callum ran so fast on the Denver airport moving sidewalk that he fell down hard on his forehead and got two stripes on his head. He recovered quickly and played for the long layover. When we prepared to leave, he made lots of friends at the gate by starting conversations with one-liners such as: "When is your birthday?" and that traditional starting statement we all use: "I have a birthmark on my leg." Everyone loved talking to him.
making it all the way to SLC before he wanted to fall asleep. We got off of the plane at the end of our journey and he boldly took his bags once again to carry them to the car. He made it about 100 feet and stopped in his tracks, calmly removed his backpack and dropped his roller bag and said: "Daddy, can you hold me?" He made it through such a long day so well - he really is a great traveler.
Callum had a wonderful bath in the hotel at Park City, with lots of jets and bubbles. He and Mommy had a relaxing week while Daddy sat in meetings. We had a delightful visit from college friend, Jana, and her son, Oliver. She was radiant with the expectation of her upcoming temple sealing and new baby on the way. We are so happy for them, and it was such a pleasure to re-connect after so many years.
Next, we spent a day in Utah with our cousins and then went to Grand Junction, Colorado to visit Grandma Mattie. This was Callum's first opportunity to meet Grandma and the Colorado family. We had an incredible time seeing everyone and introducing our favorite boy. Grandma has sent us several sweet letters expressing her thanks. We look forward to seeing everyone again!
